The familiar Mario + Rabbids turn-based tactical gameplay is featured in a gameplay walkthrough led by the developer. The game emphasizes new special abilities, weapons, and playable characters. The demo begins with Mario and Party discovering a new planet, aiming to help it bloom again. The crew collects collectibles, solves puzzles, and creates hidden paths for the purpose: a wiggler train to take you to your destination. On the train, a new threat appears in the form of an enraged wiggler infested with “Darkness Eyes” who spawn enemies. A party of Rabbid Rosalina, Mario and Bowser face a tactical challenge. Players can also equip Sparks (a combination of Mario Galaxy’s Lumas and Rabbids) to gain enhancements and upgrades. Bowser and Mario execute various synergistic attacks that take advantage of their respective spark loadouts and natural attributes. Rabbid Rosalina also demonstrates her signature technique, which stuns enemies in a wide range.

The Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope presentation briefly teased DLC for the game, as well as a pre-order bonus.

The DLC will include Rayman, the star of the Rayman series, Ubisoft’s original platformer franchise that also spawned Rabbids themselves. Pre-orders for Sparks of Hope will also lead to a “Megabug Collection” of weapons.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope launches on Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2022.
