Aliens: Dark climbing
Not to be confused with the legendary horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent, this new game is a different kind of horror: watching a plan go all wrong and all your little soldiers die. It is a tactical title, which was headed in 2023 for consoles and PC. The game was first shown off at this year’s Summer Game Fest, but some new gameplay was shown at D23.

Disney is known for theme parks, but once kart racer Disney Speedstorm comes out later in the year, it may be known for race courses (some of them developing theme parks). The latest trailer captured Monsters, Inc. Promoted a course based on the show, which included cameos from Mike, Sully and Randy. Marvel and Skydance New Media’s Untitled Adventure Game
The game is so quickly in development that it doesn’t even have a title, but its developers have a concept. It is a “narrative-driven ensemble adventure”, with an origin story set in the Marvel Universe. It’s a World War II-era setup, featuring Captain America and Black Panther fighting alongside howling commando Gabriel Jones and Wakandan warrior Nanali. Amy Hennig, formerly of Naughty Dog and a lead producer behind the Uncharted series, is leading the project. No platform was announced, but console and PC are a safe bet.
Card-battler Marvel Snap, a Marvel game previously announced in May, now has a release date: October 18, 2022. It’s a Marvel-branded take on Hearthstone or any number of mobile device-based collectible card games that populate the space.
marvel’s midnight sun
Once pushed back, Marvel’s Midnight Suns was pushed back a second time, with a final December 2, 2022 release date. The game is an unusual, magic-focused take on the Marvel canon. D23 Expo saw some new gameplay footage and more about the game’s tactical battles and storytelling. The game has also received some tactical pedigree, being developed by XCOM and Civilization studio Firaxis. The game is headed to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. A series of “prequel shorts” featuring the backstory will debut via Marvel’s YouTube channel on October 31, 2022.
